Living Invisibly
13 Jun“You cannot understand. I was saved miraculously. I succeeded in coming back. Where did I get my strength? I wanted to return to Sighet to describe to you my death so that you might ready yourselves while there is still time. Life? I no longer care to live. I am alone. But I wanted to come back to warn you. Only no one is listening to me…” -Moise the Beadle from Night by Elie Wiesel
In the book, Night, Moishe the Beadle, survives a horrific experience. His only purpose left in life was to warn people of what was happening in the concentration camps. He didn’t want or need their pity; he only wanted to spread the truth. Except, he was invisible in all aspects, like a corpse. Continue reading
A “Night” to Remember
13 JunHey everyone! Sorry I have not posted in a while… But I’m back and ready to blog! Recently in English class we read a book titled Night by Elie Wiesel, a short book that serves as an account to Wiesel, as a teenager, living and surviving during the Holocaust. Though it is short, the story is very touching and powerful when you read the thoughts and emotions going on in Wiesel’s mind about the events taking place around him. In this story, there are two major scenes that specifically caught my interest. Continue reading

Breaking Bad: Schadenfreude
15 May***Spoilers Included Beware(up to season 2 episode 6)***
So for this week’s post, I’m doing something different for a change. I have recently gotten addicted to a show called Breaking Bad, and it has everything a guy would want to watch. If you guys haven’t see Breaking Bad yet, you should, because it is an action packed tv show. The two main characters, Walter White AKA Heisenberg, and his partner, Jesse Pinkman, are in the drug business. The overall plot here is Walter White is a 50 year chemistry teacher who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Worried about his family’s financial stability, he decides to start using his chemistry knowledge to cook meth with his partner Jesse Pinkman. Walter is a seemingly boring guy with an ordinary life and job, but he turns into a hardened criminal that isn’t afraid to kill. On the other hand, Jesse Pinkman, tries to show a tough exterior, but deep inside is actually pretty wimpy, but is a compassionate person. The way these two opposites argue, brings a unique, comedic feel to the show. Walter White is portrayed by Brian Cranston the same actor who plays Hal from Malcom in the Middle. It is quite interesting to see how Brian went from wimpy husband to a ruthless drug king.
